Employees can normally make the biggest impact by focusing their action plans on the areas that need the most improvement.

Understanding their strengths is also important. This understanding can help in 3 ways:

  1. It helps to think about how they can use their strengths when tackling the areas for improvement. Perhaps someone is great at working with others, but lacks leadership skills. Giving them a mentor to work with might be a great solution.

  2. In the same way, it helps to have this awareness throughout the year. It puts the person receiving feedback in a better position to support others and put themselves forward for the tasks where they can offer the most value to the business.

  3. To go further, they could share their strengths with others. This will help others to understand how they can work effectively with the person who received feedback.
